Say it, Show it, Believe it!

With the holidays now behind us and the new year settling in, it seems that now is that time when everyone begins realizing their new year potential by applying efforts to make resolutions and aspirations come true. The transition into this year is a one marked by a historical election, an upcoming inauguration and the common theme of “change”.
It’s hard to determine what the next coming months hold for us, but the hope is that there will be positive changes underway. With these hopes, recently people have taken to wearing their hearts on their sleeves by expressing their political views and causes through fashion. From shirts, caps, to jewelry and more, celebrities were frequently seen adorning slogans and symbols expressing everything from supported presidential candidates, to saving the earth and going green, to messages of peace.
Celebrities such as P. Sean Diddy Combs took to the cause of encouraging more young people to vote, so created a fashion line of t-shirts printed with the phrase “Do or Die.” Even fashion houses like Luella and Christian Lacroix, took to making T-Shirts that either supported going green, or contained symbolic art images. Halle Berry and Ryan Phillipe, showed their support for their favored presidential candidate by wearing Obama printed shirts.
Voices everywhere have been speaking out by simply taking fashion and using it as a means of expression. With fashion being a mode of making statements beyond just style, it’s amazing to imagine the various possibilities with not only clothing but accessories as well. Jewelry, has always had the dual means of being able to accessorize and hold sentiment. With Michele Baratta’s jewelry, each piece is created for those very reasons, to express statements of the heart and accessorize any look with whimsical pieces. Items such as the “Peace Talisman Necklace, and the Protect Me Amulet”, are keepsakes that symbolize messages of always cherishing what we have and offering those we love keepsakes for good luck and protection.
Amazing is an understatement to describe the power of belief and expression. This year, let’s truly make each day count with those we love, causes we believe it and goals we wish to fulfill!

While putting up holiday decorations with my family this past week, we all got to reminiscing about how we were as kids. My mom started sharing stories about me in such vivid detail, that it surprised me at how much she remembered. At the end of all the stories containing intricate details from what I wore to kindergarten, to how my hair looked when I was born, to words I would mimic to lyrics of a song I didn’t know, I asked her “how could you possibly remember it all.” She replied, “there is a love that you’ll only know when you have your own child, a love that is so unconditional that it makes every moment of being a mother and living so special.”
Happy December to all!
